Welcome
I'm Bobby Johns Bearheart, Chief of the Perdido Bay Tribe of Southeastern Creek Indians. Join me for a walk along the beloved path of our ancestors.
My approach to claiming and honoring my Muscogee Creek Indian heritage is to share with others that which I have known, learned or been a part of. While I honor the ways of the past, I know it is impossible for anyone to recreate the ancestors' way of life, no matter how strong the desire.
I love the present and look forward to the future. We need not return to a primitive way of life. My path is not to waste time and effort on controversy without dialog between parties. My path is to be inclusive rather than exclusive; to welcome all people who wish to learn and honor their Indian heritage. My path is to be of service to others rather than to seek personal gain.
In PBT we strive to keep our heritage alive by sharing with others the history, life ways, arts, and crafts of our Creek ancestors. We also honor their memory through our efforts to help restore and preserve the treasures of our natural environment for future generations.
Poet, Edwin Markham, said, "I believe there is a destiny that makes us brothers; none goes his way alone; all that we send into the lives of others will come back into our own." That is what my Clan Uncle meant when he talked about "living like a real human being."
